What is Thigh Lift?

This procedure, known as upper leg aesthetics or thigh lift surgery, involves the removal of excess tissue. During the operation, excess fat tissue on the thigh can also be removed by liposuction. In this way, both excess fat and skin tissues are removed.
Who Can Have Thigh Lift Surgery?
Thigh lift surgery can be performed on anyone with sagging upper legs. However, it is an aesthetic operation that women over the age of 40 apply more frequently. With previous pregnancies and advancing age, the probability of encountering sagging in the thigh region increases. For this reason, it is a surgery that is generally preferred in older ages.
While losing weight reduces adipose tissue, doing sports also provides recovery in the muscles. However, the excess tissue in the skin is not an area that can be recovered by neither losing weight nor exercising. For this reason, it is generally necessary to apply to thigh stretching in individuals who gain and lose weight quickly. Especially in people who have undergone sleeve gastrectomy and have lost a lot of weight, there may be sagging in the thighs as well as many parts of the body. How is the Pre-Evaluation of Thigh Lift Surgery Performed?
As before all surgeries, patients should undergo a specialist physician examination before the thigh lift operation. Within the scope of this examination, grading of the sagging seen in the legs is performed. Based on this rating, the surgery plan is prepared.
The amount of fat and sagging in the legs is evaluated. In this way, the area and size of the surgical incision are determined. Thus, the patient can be informed about it. Stitch marks usually extend from the inside of the leg to the groin. It is not visible from the outside as it is on the inside of the leg.
How is Thigh Lift Surgery Performed?
Thigh lift surgery is a procedure performed after patients are anesthetized. It is performed in operating room conditions and by expert plastic surgeons. Patients are usually kept sedated so that they do not feel pain or suffering.
Before the operation, a vascular access is opened in the arm for the administration of serum-like fluids required for the operation and for the administration of anesthesia. After the patient is anesthetized, a surgical incision is made to remove excess tissue. This incision is made on the inner side of the groin in patients with less sagging. The incision direction is horizontal. Excess tissues are reached through the opened incision, and these tissues are removed. The remaining tissues are tightened with surgical sutures.
Stretching can be performed together with liposuction in patients with intense sagging and high fat tissue. In this way, adipose tissue is removed along with the excess skin.
How Long Does Thigh Lift Surgery Take?
The duration of the operation may vary according to the size of the operation. Since liposuction can also be applied in patients with excess sagging and adipose tissue, the operation time may increase. However, it is possible to say that thigh lift surgery will take 2-3 hours on average.
What Should Be Considered After Thigh Lift Surgery?
It is normal to feel mild pain that can be controlled with painkillers after the operation. Generally, patients are discharged after 24 hours of hospitalization. You can get up and walk on the same day after the operation.
It is possible to take a shower 2-3 days after the operation. Usually, a return to normal life is expected within 1 week. One week after the operation, it is possible to return to working life. It is also possible to start doing light exercises at the same time. However, it is necessary to wait up to 4 weeks for heavy sports movements and physical activities.
After the thigh lift surgery, the recovery process is expected to be completed within a few weeks. It is recommended to stop smoking so that the duration does not prolong.
