Konya

President of the Turkish Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association, Prof. came to the city for the 12th Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (BAPRAS) Congress held in Konya. Dr. Cenk Demirdover told the AA correspondent that the congress was very productive.

Stating that they established the Turkish World Plastic Surgery Platform at the congress, under the leadership of Turkey, together with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Demirdöver stated that they have been working for about 6 months to establish the platform.

Explaining that the main purpose of the platform is to go further in the field of plastic surgery, Demirdöver said, "We will create mutual exchange programs in plastic surgery with scientific content at the forefront."

Demirdover noted that Turkey is far ahead of not only its geography but also Europe and the USA in the field of plastic surgery.

Pointing out that as a country, they have the biggest advantage of this in health tourism, Demirdöver said, "Plastic surgery is not in such a good position in the Turkish states in Central Asia. We have established this platform to share our knowledge and experience with them and to standardize and improve the quality of education there."

Demirdöver stated that the countries on the platform will organize joint meetings and exchange ideas as well as transfer the trainings learned through mutual exchange programs to each other.

"Malpractices threaten public health"

Emphasizing that wrong surgical operations will be prevented with the platform, Demirdöver continued as follows:

"The fact that plastic surgery is not well structured in these countries results in patients being operated on by people who introduce themselves as plastic surgeons. In order to prevent this, we will try to raise their education levels and enable them to undertake better, more successful jobs. Unfortunately, in our country, it is also underhanded." "There are a lot of applications. Because there is a great demand for aesthetics. This is a serious problem for our people and threatens public health to a great extent."
